Morning Assembly Prayer

Loving God, / Father of us all, / we thank you for the gift of life, / for the love of our parents, / teachers, / brothers and sisters / and so many others, / whose work and care make our life a joy to live. /
We want to thank you, / for the beauty and the immensity of nature, / for the living things that make our world, / for the mountains, the rivers and the seas, / for the stars, / the rain and the sun. /
We thank you for the family of mankind, / for women and men all over my country / and the world, / who although profess other faiths, / speak diverse languages / and have different customs, / and colour, / yet, are my own sisters and brothers, / because you are our common God / and Father. /
As I grow up in school, / learning from books and teachers, / help me above all, / to learn to live as your child, / who recognises, / loves and worships you, / as the source of all goodness, / as my protector and Father, / and at the same time, / to love, / respect / and care for all my brothers and sisters, / who are dear to you / as I am dear to you. /
Help me to love, / respect / and obey my parents and elders, / be diligent and conscious about my work / and make my country and my people proud. / Help me to grow up, / respecting my environment, / caring for others / and serving others, / because to serve, is to love. / Amen. /

prayer at the End of the Day

Thank you, / Loving Father, / for what I have learnt, / during this day, / for the kindness and care, / that I have experienced / from my teachers and friends. / Help me through the rest of the day, / in sharing this love with others, / doing good and shunning evil, / and at the same time / being honest with my duties / as a student / and as a child. / Amen /

We thank you Lord / for this beautiful day, /
for the sun that warms / and lights our way. /
For the birds / and flowers gay. /
We thank you Lord, / for our parents, / teachers / and friends, /
And others / who make our life / a joy to live. /
We thank you Lord, / for our great Country, /
for its glorious past / and its colourful people. /
We thank you Lord / for making us / your loving children, /
Give us the power / and the courage / to forgive, / to serve, / to
love / and the strength / to follow good and shun evil. /
Make us instruments / of your love and peace /
so that the world / may know / that you are our Father / and we are your children. / Amen.

Prayer for Our Country

—R. Tagore

  1.  Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high.
    Ref. : Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake
  2. Where knowledge is free
  3. Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls
  4.  Where words come out from the depth of truth
  5.  Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection.
  6.  Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sands of dead habit.
  7.  Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever widening thought and action.

School Dedication Song

  1. Like the deer at the stream,
    I was seeking,
    One thing that all men long for
    And I heard my school calling,
    Draw from the river of knowledge and be filled.
    Lord of Knowledge,
    I seek Thy help, Lord.
    From my darkness, lead me to Thy light,
    From my emptiness to Thy fullness, Lord,
    Lead me on,
    Light my way
    And let me know.
  2.  Let our school be an oasis,
    Of unity,
    Where caste and creed hold no sway,
    Where love and true understanding
    Are ever nurtured and are ever sought.
  3.  Let ev’ry student, ev’ry parent,
    And ev’ry teacher,
    Be an instrument of unity,
    Who spread their light their world
    To make our land, united and strong.

School Hymn

  1.  On life’s venture, march we ahead,
    With the help of God and hard work
    By the trail set ablaze for us all,
    By our Patron Fr. AGNEL
    Hey, you all, Fr. Agnel’s students
    Our task is noble and high
    Keep our motto clear and nigh
    For the struggle of life and success.
  2. There is learning, for one and all,
    Love your neighbour as yourself
    This the motto that guides us all here
    Pupils of Fr. Agnel School.

Oh Brilliant star

Oh Brilliant Star of the Orient dazzling bright
Thy lustre floods our native country night
Thy lowly life that reached the heavenly height
Her children to steel with main and might.
Oh! Father Agnel, angel from heaven
Thy clients call Thee with such tender love
Be thou to us help, protector and guide
With that heart so willing and wide
With no pretence to greatness or to wealth
With fragile body held by Thy soul’s health
Thy bold endeavours steady and with strength
Have won thee fame abroad and where thou dwelt.

Ask – And It Shall be Given You

Ask – and it shall be given you
Seek – and you will find it
Knock – and the door will be opened
and the Lord will answer you.
I believe God -(2)
Ask what you will
And it shall be done
Trust and obey
Believe Him and say:
I Believe – I Believe – God.

God’s Love

I like the pit pit
Patter of the raindrops
I like the buzz buzz buzzing of the bees
But the sound I like the best
Is the very very best
Is to know that God loves me -2
Ch. God’s Love – is so wonderful -3
God Loves me too.
So high – you can’t get over it,
So deep – you can’t get under it.
So wide – you can’t get round it.
God loves me too -Ch.

You Be My Light

When the sun has set, and the night is on
When the darkness falls, and the light has gone

You be my light O Lord, and lead me on

You be my light O Lord, and Lead me on.
When I’m growing weak, and my steps are slow,
When the hopes are bleak, and I’ve strength no more,
You be my strength O Lord, and lead me on;
You be my strength O Lord, and Lead me on
When my eyes grow dim, and I cannot see,
When the chance is slim, of a friend for me;
You be my friend O Lord, and lead me on.
You be my friend O Lord, and lead me on.

The Lord is my Shepherd

  1. There is nothing I shall want
    Fresh and green are the pastures
    Where he gives me repose,
    Near restful waters he leads me
    To revive my drooping spirit.
    Ch : The Lord is my Shepherd
    There is nothing I shall want – Yes the Lord…
  2.  He guides me along, what He knows to be right
    If I walk in the darkness, no evil will I fear
    I know that He will be there,
    With His crook and with His staff – CH
  3.  The Lord has prepared such a banquet for me
    Surely goodness and kindness,
    shall follow after me,
    In the Lord’s own house shall I dwell
    All the days of my life-CHI,

The Lord of Sea and Sky

1. I, the Lord of sea and sky
I have heard my people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin
My hand will save.
I who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright
Who will bear my light to them?
Whom shall I send?
Ch: Here I am, Lord, is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.
2. I, the Lord of snow and rain,
I have borne my people’s pain
I have wept for love of them.
They turn away.
I will break their hearts of stone,
Give them hearts for love alone.
I will speak my word to them.
Whom shall I send?
3. I, the Lord of wind and flame,
I will tend the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them.
My hand will save.
Finest bread I will provide
Till their hearts be satisfied.
I will give my life to them.
Whom shall I send?All for you

Refrain : All for you,

  1. Lord all for you
    Every thing I give to you,
    All for you, Lord all for you
    Make it all your own
    1. Take my hands and feet Lord,
    Take them all for you.
    They are instruments Lord,
    Put them to your use
    To spread your love and
    give the good news
    All for you, my God. -Ref
    2. Take my joys and sorrows
    and the toil of day
    Take my rest and leisure
    All I do to-day,
    To serve my brothers
    Share with them your joy,
    All for you my God. – Ref.
    3. Take my mind, my senses
    Feelings and desires,
    Take my will and freedom
    Take my life entire
    I offer you myself
    and all I have
    All for you my God.

I would be true

1. I would be true, for there are those who trust me;
I would be pure, for there are those who care;
I would be strong, for there is much to suffer;
I would be brave, for there is much to dare,
I would be brave for there is much to dare.
2. I would be friend of all, the foe, the friend-less;
I would be giving, and forget the gift;
I would be humble, for I know my weakness;
I would look up, and laugh, and love and lift,
I would look up and laugh, and love and lift.

Like a sunflower

Like a sunflower that follows
Every movement of the sun
So I turn towards you, to follow you, my God.

  1. In Simplicity, charity, I follow (2)
  2.  In Simplicity, honesty, I follow (2)
  3. In Simplicity, fidelity, I follow (2)

God will take care of you

Be not dismayed what e’er betide, God will take care of you;
Beneath his wings of love abide; God will take care of you
God will take care of you, through everyday, O’er all the way
He will take care of you. God will take care of you.
Through days of toil when heart does fail, God will take care of you
When dangers fierce your path assail, God will take care of you.
No matter what may be the test, God will take care of you;
Lean weary one upon his breast, God will take care of you

God make my life a little light

God make my life a little light
Within the world to glow;
A little flame that burneth bright,
Wherever I may go.

God make my life a little flower
That giveth joy to all,
Content to bloom in native bower,
Although the place be small.
God make my life a little song
That comforteth the sad;
That helpeth others to be strong,
And makes the singer glad.
God make my life a little staff
Whereon the weak may rest,
So that what health and strength I have
May serve my neighbours best.
God make my life a little hymn
Of tenderness and praise;
Of faith – that never waxeth dim,
In all His wondrous ways.

walking with the lord

Walking with the Lord, we are walking in the morning
Lift up your hearts for your walking with God
Singing to the Lord, we are singing in the sunshine
Lift up your hearts for your singing to God.
Hand in hand with everyone we’re walking, walking,
Black and white and brown together walking, walking,
Singing new songs now, living new lives
Building new bridges, walking distant miles..Well we’re…
Rain and storm will not prevent us walking, walking,
Faith and hope and love will send us walking, walking
Crossing all barriers, climbing all stiles
Breaking through fences, walking distant miles…Well we’re…

Make ME a channel of your peace

  1. Make me a channel of your peace,
    Where there is hatred, let me bring your love,
    Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord,
    And where there’s doubt, true faith in you.
    Ch. Oh, Master, grant that I may never seek
    So much to be consoled as to console,
    To be understood as to understand,
    To be loved as to love with all my soul.
  2.  Make me a channel of your peace,
    Where there’s despair in life, let me bring hope,
    Where there is darkness, only light,
    And where there’s sadness, ever joy.
  3. Make me a channel of your peace,
    It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
    In giving to all men that we receive,
    And in dying that we’re born to eternal life.

This is my prayer

Ref. : This is my prayer to thee, my lord :
Strike, Strike at the root of penury in my heart.

  1. Give me the strength lightly to bear my joys and sorrows.
  2. Give me the strength to make my love fruitful in service.
  3.  Give me the strength never to disown the poor or bend my knees
    before insolent might.
  4.  Give me the strength to raise my mind high above daily trifles.
  5.  Give me strength to surrender my strength to thy will with love.

Morning has broken, like the first morning,
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird.
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning,
Praise for them springing fresh from the word.
Sweet the rain’s new fall, sunlit from heaven,
Like the first dew fall on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden,
Sprung in completeness where His feet pass.
Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning,
Born of the one light Eden saw play.
Praise with elation, praise every morning,
God’s re-creation of the new day.

Whatsoever you do
to the least of my people,
that you do unto me.

  1. When I was hungry, you gave me to eat;
    When I was thirsty, you gave me to drink.
    Now enter into the home of my Father.
  2. When I was homeless, you opened your door;
    When I was naked, you gave me your coat.
    Now enter into the home of my Father.
  3.  When I was weary, you helped me find rest;
    When I was anxious, you calmed all my fears.
    Now enter into the home of my Father.
  4.  When in a prison, you came to my cell;
    When on a sick bed, you cared for my needs.
    Now enter into the home of my Father.
  5.  When I was laughed at, you stood by my side;
    When I was happy, you shared in my joy.
    Now enter into the home of my Father

Bind us together, Lord, bind us together
With cords that cannot be broken
Bind us together, Lord, bind us together
Bind us together with love
There is only one God
There is only one King
There is only one body
That is why we sing
You are the family of God
You are the promise divine
You are God’s chosen desire
You are the glorious new wine

  1. Just like a child, who trust his father dear
    And who delight , to feel his presence near
    Just like a child, whose mind has not a doubt
    And whose heart is never proud.
    Here I come, o lord
    Here I come just like a child
    Here I come, o lord
    Here I come just like a child
  2. Just like a child, so weak he cannot stand
    But who holds firm and tight his mother’s hand
    Just like a child, who sings in bright daylight
    Fearing not the long dark night.
  3.  Just like a child that guilty deeds oppress With mind and heart in trouble and distress who throws himself into his mother’s armsSure she’ll free him from his qualms.

It takes courage to answer a call,
It takes courage to give your all,
It takes courage to risk your name,
It takes courage to be true
It takes courage to dare,
What no other will share,
To be standing alone,
One whom no one will own,
To be ready to stake,
For another mans sake:
It takes courage to be true.
It takes courage to say
What you know will not pay,
To give each one his share,
Though there`ll be less to spare,
To be seeking no more.
Than the neighbour next door.
It takes courage to be true.
It takes courage to leave,
What a good fortune can give,
And to go to a land
Where the poor need a hand,
To be spending one’s day
In less leisurely ways.
It takes courage to be true.
