Balvatika – 3 / K.G EARTH DAY CELEBRATION
GREEN AVENGERS
Earth Day, celebrated on April 22, highlights the importance of protecting our environment and promoting sustainable practices. It serves as a reminder for everyone to care for the Earth and adopt habits that help preserve natural resources for future generations.
The objective of organizing the “Green Avengers” event by Bal Vatika-3 was to create awareness among children about caring for the environment and to encourage them to adopt eco-friendly habits in their daily lives from an early age.
The celebration included a variety of meaningful and engaging activities. Children came dressed in green or blue T-shirts to represent nature and show their support for the cause. A PPT presentation was shown to help them understand simple ways to take care of the Earth, such as saving water and electricity, caring for plants, using cloth or paper bags instead of plastic and following the principles of reduce, reuse and recycle.
The children were also introduced to waste management practices, learning to use blue bins for dry waste and green bins for wet waste. A hands-on activity was conducted in which they had to identify and sort various items into the appropriate bins.
To extend learning beyond the classroom, children practiced these eco-friendly habits at home. Parents actively participated by sharing photographs of their children carrying out these activities. The children also created creative crafts using waste materials with the help of their parents and proudly brought them to school. Through this “best out of waste” activity, they learned the importance of reusing materials and reducing waste, while developing creativity and responsibility towards the environment.
Adding to the excitement, the KG teachers presented a dramatized story in the auditorium, which effectively reinforced the message of protecting the environment in an engaging way. An informative worksheet was also given as reinforcement. Children enjoyed colouring it and added a blue-green handprint as a pledge to care for nature.
The event concluded on a joyful note, with children proudly wearing the “Green Avenger” medals coloured by them. Through the celebration, our children truly became “Green Avengers,” taking a small but meaningful pledge to care for and protect the Earth.
